Song Lyrics - A Song About the End of a Relationship
72Below are the first song lyrics I have ever written. I have been wanting to attempt to write lyrics for a while, because I love music, especially music with good lyrics. After all, music is a universal medium; perhaps the most powerful of all.
I don't know if this is a good song or not. Feel free to publish your thoughts in the comments box. I just wrote it how it turned out in my head. I have an idea of the way it should sound, but I cannot write music or play an instrument so I am unable to produce the melody.
It is a song about the end of a relationship, as many songs are. It explores the emotions at suddenly finding oneself alone again.
I'd Make It Right Again If I Could
I remember things we did
And those words you used to say,
You painted rainbows on my world
You took away my grey,
Thought what we had was special,
Though who doesn't think that way?
Start out a hopeful optimist
Just end in disarray,
So why did it all go wrong,
When what we had was good?
You know I'd make it right again
If I could
You smile out from our photo,
Your arm around my waist,
I want to walk away, though
I can't help but contemplate,
Was it me, or was it you?
Oh, what's the point in blame?
Somewhere down the pathway
Something must have changed
So why did it all go wrong
When everything was good?
You know I'd make it right again
If I could
Some day I'll fall in love again,
At least that's what they say,
It doesn't really help
With the way I feel today,
Love can end explosively
Or simply fizzle out,
Not everything in life can last,
That's not what life's about
So why did it all go wrong
When everything was good?
You know I'd make it right again
If I could
The black of night holds memories
That embed upon my soul
Can't sleep, can't think, can't get away,
My strange, new, empty world,
The moon shines through the curtain
I'm waiting for the day,
Darkness tears through my disguise -
And how do stars fall apart, anyway?

Found your song this morning while exploring Hub Pages.
This is a good example to show how song writing in many ways is really just poetry set to music. Without a melody to show us how the song would be performed and sound it's just another poem to us, the readers. I am a guitar player myself and have always struggled to write original songs, at least any I felt were any good! I hear successful songwriters/musicians say it is often the music or melody that comes to them first out of a passing thought. For instance, the story goes that Paul McCartney was taking a walk on a rainy day outside his home one day long ago, and he took a moment to look up and evaluate the weather for a moment and thought to himself, "it's getting better all the time!". He claims the entire melody for the song came to him in moments. He promptly returned home and added some lyrics and in just about half an hour he had created another Beatles classic. He makes is sound so simple. Also, while looking at your profile I noticed your poem regarding the homeless. You may appriciate my Poem "Urban Kight" which also speaks from a homeless mans perspective.
Warmest Regards, D.
